Water Qualities:
People are so ignorant. They think they are relaxed from the hot tub. What is actually happening is that they are soaking in so many toxins from the chemicals in the tub (pollutant and also artificial cleaners) or even natural cleaners that strip the oils out of the body and can turn any hydrophilic person into a water mal absorpant, hydrophobic sponge. Look at the way most hot tubs make the skin shrivel up. The hot tub is not hydrating, its dehydrating. The tubs that I go in dont make my skin look like a dried up prune. Most peope are so clueless that they don't even realize this is not good for the body. All the chemicals are often what makes people feel exhausted, not relaxed after getting out of the tub.
Many tubs come with water purifiers but this is totally not necessary if you just add things to the water that restructure it so you don't have to buy anything to purify it. Depending on your water source, there are different things you can do so you don't have to use a water purifier. With restructuring the water, you only buy it once and it costs less than 7 dollars for most waters and it lasts you about 10 years. It restructures the water. With some, you can put the filthiest chlorinated water in a bottle and seal the cap. Wave the pen over the bottle and the chlorine is gone. These cost 10 dollars and last a life time. These use to cost about 25,000 dollars back in 1981. Almost a million of these are sold a MONTH right now and are the hottest tool to restructure water on the planet right now. I have 1000 of these and if anyone wants one for free that reads this page, I will send one free of charge. I enjoy being the first person to tell people about it. They cost me about 10 bucks but got these as a gift only to give to people. It will help remove all the hair gels, lotions, bacteria, and dust.
Tubs from Affordable all the way to high therapeutic
It's hard to know which ones are therapeutic and which aren't when all the companies brag how good their tubs are. Some hot tub motors don't hold up well with consecutive use but DO hold up a long time if the usage is spaced out throughout the day. Lower quality components usually mean you will need warm down times between uses. The better engineered the hot tub is, the more these components can take abuse.
Quality Grades: Higher grades are only good if you need if. Someone that has super positional tolerance and muscles that are hydrophilic and a body that not water mal absorbent, there is no need for a tub that has high water pressure and really expensive jets. The goal is to bring the muscles back into homeostasis so the muscles don't fill up with lactic acids. As the muscles become more hydrophillic and water absorbent, there is less desire to go in the hot tub. But it sure does feel good to let water relieve muscles when they are like this.
Affordable "budget" tubs -
These are usually priced under 2000 and are great for people that need an inflatable tub or one that is really portable and especially for indoor use. You get the feel of hot tub without spending lots of money but your aren't getting the full version. It's kind of like downloading a free game on the iPad and you like it but you are not getting the full version. It's not like the real thing. You always crave more power but relaxing and soaking in jets just a little more powerful than a bubble bath make some people happy.
Party Tubs (better than the inflatable but not like an all around relaxation tub) -
A slight step up from the blow up ones. You aren't gonna get the most powerful jets but you can get a decent amount. These are adequately proportionante to motor size but you have to sacrifice jet pressure if you get too many jets with the type of motors used in these models. The best way to put it is "adequate". You get some pressure and usually it takes a lot longer to feel the results that a stronger one will give you in way less time. This means if you want results you have to soak longer depending on how hydrophilic or phobic you are. It just feels ok.
Tub Types:
Relaxation "Residential" Tubs -
These have a little more than average pressure and just a little less intense than the ulta high end horsepower tubs, especially with those with a high horsepower to jet ratio. If you have been sitting at a desk all day or your lymphatic system is stagnant but you don't have deep rooted concerns, this can be a great tub for the every day user who wants to relax and release the tension out of their muscles. Most of these that people desire to go in every day are more like getting a good massage that is not too weak but not too strong, it's just right. But if you have just general tension and your lifestyle requires an extra protocol to release the tension, these are usually fine. As long as the muscle tension is not deep rooted you probably won't return a tub like this. The average person loves this type. If you like a massage and you don't need elbows and body weight to dig deep, this is the experience if have had.
Therapeutic (strong jets, almost perfect) -
A lot of insurance companies pay for the therapeutic value that you an get from the therapuetuci tubs. Anyone that doesn't have a big budget bug wants entry level theraputuic value. You get therapy from these but you might always want it to be a little stronger. It's like getting a massage from a student massage school and they are good and you still get a good massage but you don't get the massage and accupuncture pressure that you crave. It's the best bang for the buck. Once in a while you are gonna get a massage that is good but you are not guaranteed it. It's gonna be very close to a professinal. You could need a little more but you might not. You just don't know. These are what I consider these entry level professonail models. If you like when a massage therapist uses their elbows to get to the points where you need extra pressure, this is what the experience will be most similar to and I will pick out a tub for you if you let me know you like this type of pressure. Some people do and some people think its too strong. Why pay more for stronger jets if you don't need it.
Extreme Therapeutic (clinical, physical therapy) Deep tissue water massage -
Now we are getting into theraputucic jet pressure.. These are usually not isolated to on/off. The jets have different settings for dif feels, varying from speed to speed. With high end therapy, you should have at least 2 to 3 motor speeds. For people that get a massage and go through so many different people until they find the one that they like, these tubs have better jets that give a more solid feel and more pressure. Don't go just for strong. There are many massage therapists that you have to tell them to go a little lighter because their technique just doesn;t feel as good. If you need a tub like this, I will do my best to pick out a brand that I think you would like based on the answers you choose. Know that these are the most expensive and you won't get one of these cheap. You usually have to know what brands to look for when you want a tub this powerful. These aren't usually on the floor in showrooms nor have a seen these types at the state fairs. They really don't do much marketing as these are a very expensive niche tub. If you take my quiz, don't check a $2,000 price and tell me how you want all the features of a tub like this. I won't be able to help you if you just want a tub in a price range unde my cost that I can offer.
Formula for finding your quality grade. The higher the number, the more powerful the jets. Please see Jet Types page to get the right type of jets. Once you know the power rating for your seat you can pick out the right tub. It is hard to know a good tub from one that you won't like over time just by trying a tub in the show room. By knowing the type of quality you want and knowing which tubs really offer the quality you are asking for you can pick out the right one. Blindly, most of the tubs feel great but over time or if it's not "just right" you will probably want to return it later. Most people are not happy that buy the wrong one that call me. It's better to know your hot tub inside and out along with knowing how it feels.
You want to look for a number over 125. The more over 125 the stronger and better quality the motor must be to support the tub. The lower the number, the less cost that has to go in a tub to produce less work.
Know the the total horsepower per seat: 1 to 2 usually
Know the gallons per minute per seat
Amount of jets horsepower divide by the gallons of water per minutes streaming out. Factor it by the seat (or number of seats, you will also get different numbers).
Take the number and divide it by the square inches of room in the tub (NOT JUST WHAT THE RATING IS FROM THE MANUFACTURER OF HOW MANY GALLONS IT HOLDS but estimated actual gallons in the tub.
We also need to know the square inches of room in the tub with the amount of jets with the amount of horsepower.
Range 200+ extremely therapeutic
Range 160-200 therapeutic
