If I were buying a hot tub, these are some of the questions I would ask and made sure I had permission to record the MANAGERS OR OWNERS response in case of future issues.
1. How loud are the jets, pumps, and motors?
2. Does the water stay clean when not in use?
3. Can you customize the jets?
4. What type of filtration is used?
5. Are the filters easy to change?
6. What is the seat configuration?
7. How automatic is the heating and filtering system?
8. Is the heater corrosion resistant?
9. Which is the weakest part of the hot tub?
10. What are the electrical specs on the hot tub?
11. How much energy does the hot tub use?
12. How and where was the hot tub made?
13. Which parts are covered under warranty and for how long?
14. Was the hot tub tested?
15. How much is the hot tub insulated? Is it FULLY FOAMED?
16. How much does the hot tub cost to run per month, per use?
17. Can I see the warranty papers before I buy it? VERY IMPORTANT
18. What makes your warranty different than other brands?
19. Are there any limitations to your warranty?
20. Can I talk to some of the people who bought your tub in my area?
21. How long have you been in business?
22. Are you in good standing with the BBB and Consumer Affairs Office?
23. How many dealers do you have? How do I find them?
24. Do you have any other references?
How do you make the tub less noisy?
Some tubs have a high pitch and some a low pitch. The lower the pitch the higher the costs as the low noise tubs usually have sound dampening and quieter motors (heavier supports and enclosures causing less friction).
Is it good to use Ozone in the tub?
Only if you are using cool water. It doesn't work in hot water. I prefer hydrogen peroxide and more natural protocols in the tub.
How come there are brochures on some tubs and not other brands?
Simply put, if a hot tub company doesn't have enough information on the tub and they don't want to put the specs in writing on their brochure, I am not buying!!! Period. Another thing, is when I ask to be mailed a brochure and I have to tell them more than twice to mail it in order to not get their sales pitch, I am not going to buy their tub. Some companies change their models so much and go through so many different changes that they don't have brochures. That's ok but personally I would not buy a tub that is upgraded more than once a year. This does not say stability to me.
How do I know if the tub is going to be loud?
Make sure that the tub is insulated and has VERY dense foam. Tubs can sound quiet in a show room but when you get home and install it you might not like how loud it is. Certain homes are not sound dampened and do not absorb the sound.
How would you describe perfect hot tub water?
Well, it's really up to ones perception but I believe perfect therapeutic hot tub water has a perfect hexagonal structure.
Water that's not structured has disrupted structures and doesn't look hexagonal under a
microscope.
If my water is restructured, does it matter what I store the water in?
I would not suggest storing any water in non BPA-FREE tubs. I would suggest insulating the tub against EMF and static electricity. I grounding device to put under the tub before you ever install it if the tub is high EMF would be almost mandatory in some cases. Grounding devices are very cheap. You might need several of them depending on the size of the tub. These are the same thing that people put next their mattress pad too. No difference.
