When you are talking about the boss people. Their tubs are all around tubs. You can have tons of people in there and EVERYONE gets the same treatment as the boss. These have all the features and bells and whistles but don't cover up quality and try to hide it by the bells and whistles. You can set it to pinpoint to spray to intense and any jet pressure type that meets your needs. You don't just get on and off with these. You can adjust them so you don't get that stingy feel when the pressure is not right.
Also, the air output is in proportion to the water output ratio so you get the right water ratio hitting your body.
These are usually built for 6 people or more. These tubs are more roomy and if someone is a big guy has broad shoulders or someone is really thin and has narrow shoulders, the tub has seats that can adapt to them.

If you want to pimp out your hot rub even more, you can upgrade the lighting, add a higher end stereo, plasma tvs, and have the remote on your iPad.

If you got the money, there are a few companies that custom build hot tubs, you can't pimp beyond this. you can add custom water filtration systems and you won't care what gets in the tub. If you want a tub like this, there are senior level spa builders that have been in the business for years and although these architects and engineers charge a lot, its worth it if you want something custom.

Don't get me wrong. Factory tubs are great and can be very expensive too, 16,000 to 18,000 usually tops the price range unless you get a swim spa. Custom hot tubs usually cost two to three times as much as the most expensive factory hot tubs. They also put top of the line components in them. These also take about two to three times as long to build and custom design so don't expect to get one without waiting several weeks to months depending on demand. If you get into one of the tubs that we consider extremely therapeutic, the construction of these will blow you out of your seat. Many people will have to hold on to handrails to get that deep "Thai massage" feel that factory models rarely give unless you buy top of the line.

Know also that the jet placements are designed perfectly for your body. They might ask you where the pain is in your back or send you to a specialized physical therapist to pinpoint where you need the most jet pressure and which type of jet type (pinpoint, wide area, swirling, milking motion, etc.) They place the jets perfectly. Some people need light pressure in certain place and really extreme in others. You won't have to turn off the jets on the other seats to get more pressure in "your" seat. It has the power to begin with.

Pimped out tubs should always have commercial grade components and high end plumbing and filtering systems.

These usually have a seperate water pump just for filtering, and not part of the main jet system. They also usually have a seperate heating and ozone flow. On cheaper plumbing systems, the filters can add resistance to the water flow so some of the motor power isn't going towards jet pressure but passing water through the filters instead.

Many of the cheap tubs push more air than water. Most people don't know how the difference between really high end jets and having a lot of cheap ones. Some jet systems pump their water from the bottom of the tub (the water pressure is exponentially heavier at the bottom of the tub) If you ever went scuba diving, you would know the pressure at 20 feet under is not just double what the pressure is at 10 feet under. Also, many tubs have water inlets on the sides and this is where those jets pick up more air bubbles that are sucked into the pumps when it is better to be just water. there are some brands that suck the water from the top so that less foam is created and the foam and water goes into a filter which requires a more noisy pump because the water is not being pushed by gravity at the bottom of the tub. I do not like to compromise the water pressure just becuase I don't have a good filtering system and have to do two things at once and have the inlets near the top. Having too many air bubbles in the jets works against creating the negative pressure (or the hydraulic pumping). In a custom hot tub, you probably will never see a scum line.

Horsepower in Custom Jets:
Custom tubs don't necessarily have the highest HP. (More horsepower typically means louder noise. True pimping in your hot tub doesn't mean you have to talk louder so people can hear you over the tub. Custom tubs have the smoothest outflow of water gallon output, especially at the high GPMs. These tubs can actually work at lower horsepower and give the same gallons per minute as a poorly engineered motor that has to work harder and louder, and use much more amperage to do the same job. Many people think the best tubs always have the highest horsepower and its not like that. But, having appropriate hp is what to look for.

If the tub says it pushes 225 gallons a minute and 25 gallons of that 225 gallon rating is being used for filtering purposes and it would then have a 200 gallon rating with the filter. It can get very misleading. Having ozone pumps, heater pumps, filtering pumps usually all combine to make up the gallons per minute in most tubs. I WANNA KNOW THE GALLONS PER MINUTE OF WATER MASSAGING MY BODY!!1!!!!

Custom hot tubs also take way less electricity to operate as the motors because of the higher quality components and custom engineering, have to use less amperage to produce the same power as a generic motor and generic jet settings. Because they are custom designed to meet your needs, they only use enough electricity to meet your needs. Every extra gallon of water pushed where you don't want it puts that much extra stress on the motor and keeps it hotter. Customizing the right jet pressure with or without pushing more or less water is all what makes these very pinpointed to the person using the tub. You might want to design your seat jets and seating arrangement differently than you design the seat for your partner or your best friend.

Keep in mind that these can cost a lot and the hot tubs rated at extremely therapeutic make 99% of the people happy. Not everyone can afford the best but it is out there for people that want it. If you want a custom tub, please let me know on my hot tub quiz.
